Today was a much better day! I woke up and decided first off that I was going to remain positive no matter what challenges I faced.
Jaclyn and I were invited to dinner at the Stewart's home so we headed over there before bible study. I've been there once before - the place is breathtaking! A gorgeous house built in the mid 19th Century, once owned by some government officials as well as Gustav Wolff - co-founder of the Harland and Wolff shipyard. Evelyn has done an extraordinary job in decorating it to match the era of the architecture. The minute you open the front door you feel as though you have stepped onto a live set for Pride and Prejudice.
Dinner wasn't quite ready so Jacs and I went for a walk around the property. The sun was out and the warmth from it accompanied by a slight cool breeze make the walk thoroughly enjoyable.
This tree reminded me of The Lion King |
After a delicious meal of roast chicken w/ gravy and potatoes, yorkshire pudding, carrots, broccoli, and peas (and pavlova for dessert) we headed back to the church to hear Robert share about his recent trip to Ethiopia.
Pavlova is a meringue-based dessert with a crisp crust and a soft, moist marshmallow-like centre. It is traditionally decorated with a topping of whipped cream and fresh fruit such as kiwi, passion fruit, and strawberries.
Later that evening Jacs and I watched a movie and hung out. . . trying to spend as much time together before she heads home :(
ALSO: Today while at the Stewart's they mentioned how they often see seals in the summertime on the rocks of Lough Shore! What?!? It's like my own personal zoo right outside my front door! Can't wait to see one! I shall be on the look-out from now on!
